My Story

I'm cycling for JDRF, the charity that funds research to treat, prevent and cure type 1 diabetes.

In addition to the Strava distance goal, I will be cycling the hundred or so kilometres from South London to Cambridge in late September.  Having started road cycling in lockdown, this will be my first century on a bike non-stop. I have been training hard, putting in thousands of metres of elevation through the Kent Alps every week to be ready for the mighty cols and epic descents of London, Hertfordshire, and Cambridgeshire. I'm looking forward immensely to both raising money and showing that type 1 diabetes is something that can be overcome - both individually, and by funding the important research needed to understand how to treat, prevent, and cure it!

Type 1 Diabetes affects 400,000 people in the UK, with over 29,000 of them children. Incidence is increasing by about four per cent each year and particularly in children under five, with a five per cent increase each year in this age group over the last 20 years. JDRF aims to create a world without type 1 diabetes. Until that day, your support is vital to help fund world-class research, improving treatments until JDRF finds the cure.
