Walk together to raise funds for type 1 research

Scotland, we are beyond excited to announce that our long awaited One Walks are back in person for the first time in two years! This is a great opportunity for the type 1 community to get together, have fun and raise awareness.

Join us in St Andrews on Saturday 11 June for a sponsored walk around Craigtoun Country Park and a great day out for all!

What is One Walk?

Join hundreds of people coming together to change the future for everyone living with type 1 diabetes. One Walk is not just a sponsored walk, it is so much more! Join us for a celebration of the type 1 community and a fun day out for people of all ages and abilities – from the littlest legs to the most brisk power-walkers.

On the day you can:

  • Visit our information stand and talk to staff to find out more about type 1
  • Keep the kids entertained with things like face painting and other fun activities
  • Take in the beautiful scenery and do something active with your Saturday morning
  • Meet others who understand what it means to live with, or support a loved one with the condition.
  • Earn your very own bespoke wooden One Walk medal

Key information for One Walk Scotland

Start time

Arrive from 10:00am

Before you set off on the walk you will be able to enjoy the One Walk event village with stalls and activities for children.

Walk starts 11:30am

Route

Join us for our 5km route around the perimeter of the beautiful Craigtoun Country Park on a gentle mixed terrain course of gravel and tarmac paths. This route is accessible for all.

Your steps matter!

Your walk is helping to fund innovative research into treatments such as immunotherapy. JDRF funded research is looking to retrain the immune system from attacking beta cells.

Further information

Can I bring my dog to One Walk?

Yes! Dogs are welcome to join the walk but they will not be allowed inside the buildings. They remain the responsibility of the owner and must be kept on the lead at all times.

How long will the walk take?

The route consists of three laps of Craigtoun Country Park. The full route should take the average walker approximately 1 hour but could take anytime between 45mins and 2 hours dependant on your pace.

Is there on site parking?

Parking is available but due to the high volume of numbers attending the park we advise you to car share if possible.

What Covid safety measures are in place?

Hand sanitiser will be available within the event site, face coverings are encouraged indoors and one way queuing systems may be in place in certain areas.
